A Kismet man was injured in an accident late Tuesday morning in eastern Seward County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, a 2021 Ram 1500 Classic was northbound on Road P, with a 2024 Freightliner westbound on U.S. Highway 54 about seven and a half miles east of Liberal.

KHP said the pickup failed to yield to westbound traffic on Hwy. 54, and the semi impacted the Ram on the passenger side. Both vehicles came to rest in the north ditch.

The driver of the Dodge, 72-year-old David Burl Quillin of Kismet, was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with a suspected serious injury. The KHP report said he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Freightliner, Jakob Aaron Weldon, 30, of Wichita, was taken to Southwest Medical Center in Liberal with a suspected minor injury. KHP said he too was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
