Special to the Leader & Times

Sixteen members of the Eisenhower Middle School Warrior Band recently auditioned for the Southwest Kansas Music Educators Association (SWKMEA) Middle School Honor Band and Honor Orchestra. Following a competitive audition process, 10 students were recognized.

Four students earned seats in the prestigious SWKMEA Middle School Honor Band: Emma Graham (flute), Cecilia Holder (trumpet), Omar Lizarraga (trumpet), and Caitlin Rice (French horn). Six additional students were selected as Honor Band alternates: Maryjose Romo (alto saxophone), Sindy Garcia Perez (trumpet), Jose Lopez Batz (trumpet), and Alberto Espinoza Villalba (tuba).

Honor Orchestra Alternates were Ella Carr (violin) and Natalie McLane (violin).

The Eisenhower Warrior Band continues to maintain a full schedule of performances and competitions. Upcoming events include the Liberal High School Homecoming Parade (Oct. 17), the Pet & Spook Parade (Oct. 31) and the fall band Concert (Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the E.M.S. gym).

In November, Warrior Band students will also audition for the Kansas John Philip Sousa Honor Band and the Five-State Honor Band. The community is encouraged to support these young musicians as they continue to represent Eisenhower Middle School with pride and passion.
