Charles W. Harper, 96, died Friday, June 5, 2026 at Brookdale Liberal Springs in Liberal.

He was born Jan. 8, 1930 to Thomas and Linnie (Hawk) Harper. 

He graduated from Liberal High School.

He married Patricia Ann Hatfield Feb. 14, 1948. She preceded him in death Jan. 9, 2020.

He was a member of the Lone Star Friends Church and a past member of the Hugoton School Board.

Throughout his life, Charles devoted himself to working on the family farm.

Survivors include daughter, Paula Harrison; three sons: Rod and wife, Cindy Harper, Brent and wife LaVonna Harper, Hutchinson, Craig and wife, Cathy Harper, Liberal; grandchildren: Dustin (Kathy) Harrison, Melissa (Justin) Shelton, Robin (Jeff) Blasi, Nick (Natalie) Harper, Amy Kitts, Jeremy Kitts, Zac Moon, Morgan (Ryan) Brown; and great-grandchildren: Ashton Harrison, Derek Danser, Keelan Danser, Dani Danser, Rylee Harris, Brock Shelton, Avery, Burkley and Braxton Blasi, Hadley Harper, and Ella Harper, Madison Trotter, Hunter, Beckett and Oaklyn Moon, Jovi, Journi, and Jersey Brown.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred Harper and Thomas Harper; sister, Helen Higgins; son-in-law, Wendall Harrison; and grandson, Aaron Harrison.

• Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Lone Star Friends Church at 2698 State Highway 51 in Hugoton, with Pastor James Tower and Pastor Gary Damron presiding.

Burial will follow at Lone Star Cemetery. 

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026 at Hornung Family Funeral Home at 1212 W. 2nd Street in Liberal.
