david johnsonDavid E. Johnson, 62, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society in Liberal.  

He was born Dec. 5, 1957 to Kenneth and Ann (Grider) Johnson in Cookeville, Tenn.

He graduated from Liberal High School in 1976 and then attended Kansas State University. 

He worked as a florist in the family flower business in Liberal, Johnson’s Flowers. 

He enjoyed therapeutic horseback riding. He loved to listen to classic rock music, watching his kids play sports and cheering on the Kansas State Wildcats. 

He loved his Kansas City Chiefs and was watching them in the AFC Championship when he entered his eternal life.  

He had a wonderful talent doing oil paintings. In his later years he enjoyed visiting with his dad, sons, and granddaughter.

Survivors include his father; sons, Dustin Johnson and wife, Johnette, Liberal, and Preston Johnson and fiancée, Jandi Riddle, Garden City; and granddaughter, Annie Sue Johnson. 

He was preceded in death by his mother; and sister, Karla Holder.

• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020 the First United Methodist Church at 116 West 3rd Street in Liberal, with Reverend Keith Anglemyer presiding. 

Burial will follow at the Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal,. 

Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020 at Brenneman- Hornung Funeral Home at 1212 West 2nd Street in Liberal. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Pheasant Heaven Charities in care of the Brenneman Hornung Funeral Home.
