juanita smithULYSSES – Juanita Smith, 91, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020 at Prairie Meadows Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Omaha, Neb. 

She was born Sept. 20, 1928 to M.E. (Joe) and Maude M. (Drennon) Eyman in Johnson. 

She married Charles Smith in 1947. He preceded her in death in 2009. 

She loved her cats and any other little fuzzy animals.  She had a special talent for counted cross stitch pictures of which the family has many cherished pictures. 

She also loved to work with her flowers, both inside and out.

Survivors also include son, Richard Smith and wife, Linda, Ulysses; daughter, Shirley Shouse and husband, Michael, Omaha, Neb.; sister, Jo Anne Pucket, Ulysses; grandchildren: Andy Waldren and wife, Jen, Jennifer Weber and husband, Bryce, and Heather Judy, and Shawn Brown; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Betty Campbell and Joyce Rexroat.

• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Jay Mykytiuk presiding. 

Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses. 

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Croix Hospice in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, Kansas 67880.
