“When approving the funding for raises in 2019, we knew adjustments would have to be made for hard to recruit and retain positions in the sheriff’s department, Road and Bridge and the landfill,” the information said.
About $176,000, the information said, was left for adjustments for the money budgeted for raises. In addition, the sheriff’s office had carryover of about $171,000 in the jail personal services and $214,000 in sheriff’s personal services for 2019.
“This is due to budgeted positions that have not been filled and ties back to the need for adjusting salaries for hard to recruit and retain positions,” the information said.
Staff is recommending commissioners approve the $30,000 to cover all pay increases.
Monday’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the commission chambers in the Seward County Administration Building.
