Texas County health officials confirmed 65 new positive COVID-19 test results Friday. The new positive results were for 54 Guymon residents, five Hooker residents, two Goodwell residents, two Tyrone residents, one Optima resident, and one Hardesty resident. No other details in confirmed cases were released. County totals were 606 positive cases with 281 recoveries and four deaths. Texas County remained the COVID-19 “hot spot” in the State of Oklahoma and various local, state, and federal agencies are working to strategically manage the ongoing community outbreak.

Guymon ranked third amongst Oklahoma cities and towns with 487 confirmed cases. Of those cases, 209 have recovered. Hooker now ranks 15th in the state with 64 confirmed cases and 47 recovered. Oklahoma City reported the most cases in the state and added 21 new cases today putting them at 808 confirmed cases with 602 recovered. Tulsa added eight new cases and had 517 with 427 recovered. Texas County ranked third in the state for total confirmed cases.

COVID-19 case counts in each Texas County town with positives included: Guymon with 487, Hooker with 64, Texhoma with 21, Tyrone with 13, Goodwell with nine, Optima with six, Hardesty with two, Adams with one and three towns were unspecified.

Health officials in guymon have advised that efforts to boost testing have been successful and the county will see increased testing the next two weeks. A team is assisting in testing of Seaboard Foods employees at the Guymon location this week. Additionally, the Texas County Health Department will be hosting another mass drive through testing from 9 a.m. to 12 p.mon May 16th at the Texas County Activity Center. Drive-Through testing is offered free of charge by the Texas County Health Department Monday through Thursday for individuals with at least one COVID-19 symptom present, but an appointment is required. Appointments are available by calling TCHD at 580-338-8544. Additional testing is offered by Specialty Clinics of St. Anne’s Internal Medicine, Xpress Wellness Urgent Care and Memorial Hospital of Texas County.
