During the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, like many people across the country, Turpin, Okla., residents have had to stay at home for periods of time.

With the pandemic coming during the spring season, a time typically known for cleaning, people in the Panhandle town have spent much time cleaning and organizing their homes.

Amidst all of that, some items in home are found that are little used, if at all, so the question for many what to do with things they do not what. Turpin resident Tara Kirkhart said the answer is easy.

Kirkhart is inviting everyone to participate in the annual Community Yard Sale starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 13. Yard sales are not just in Turpin, but they can also be found in the Ponderosa and Pheasant Run housing community.

Kirkhart emphasized all sales are on a cash only basis.

“Please do not pay with bills higher than a $20,” she said. “With a lot of sales, you will want to be prepared as a shopper with some change and smaller bills. This helps us out as sellers.”

In the past, the yard sale has brought more than 100 shoppers, and Kirkhart said she expects this year to be the same.

“Please respect social distancing while you are out,” she said. “There are some big items and small items that will be made available. Clothing, toys, household goods, pool table, air hockey table, furniture and jewelry.”

Kirkhart said she is looking forward to seeing all the shoppers this year.

“As the organizer of this yearly event, I need to say there could be more sales that did not make the deadline to be placed on this list,” she said. “With that said, just drive the streets in the community and look for your treasures and enjoy the day.”
