MEADE – Elizabeth L. (Betty) Cordes, 91, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026 at the Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade.
She was born June 15, 1934 to John and Orpha (Menely) Wilson.
She attended school in Melvern, graduating in 1952. After her graduation, she began a career in healthcare for 20 years.
She married Ronald Cordes March 14, 1969. He survives.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and LWML, serving as a past president.
She enjoyed crocheting, camping, spending time in the outdoors, sporting events, attending her children’s activities, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors also include her children, Joyce Mingus, Meade, Sandra Cain, Tyrone, Okla., Gilbert Hoffman, Weatherford, Texas, Kinberly Hirsh, Simi Valley, Calif., and Bill Cordes, Tonganoxie; 14 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Tanis Cordes; brother, Clinton Wilson; and sister, Roberta O’Brian.
• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2026 at St. John Lutheran Church in Meade.
Burial will follow at the Atwater Cemetery in Meade.
Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
