Charlene Kay Godbey, 69, died Monday, March 2, 2026 in Liberal.
She was born Feb. 28, 1957 to Kenneth and Fannie (Grant) Russell.
She completed her studies at Sublette High School in 1975.
She worked at the local drugstore in Sublette, then moved on to positions at Good Samaritan Nursing Home and Walmart in Liberal.
Survivors include three sons: Michael Kopper and wife, Jayleene, Liberal, Chris Kopper, Louisiana, and Shawn Smith, Parsons; grandchildren, Samantha Kopper and Aria Smith; and step-granddaughter, Annastasia Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Brooklynn KayLea Kopper; and brother, Mike Russell.
• Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Hornung Family Funeral Home at 1212 W. 2nd Street in Liberal.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2026 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jeremy Harris presiding.
Burial will take place at a later date at the Liberal City Cemetery.
