Liberal city commissioners are scheduled to vote tonight on a contract which would officially make Dennis Mulanax the city’s police chief.
Mulanax was hired as the interim chief earlier this year following the termination of former chief Al Sill’s contract.
The contract does provide a $600 monthly allowance the City of Liberal will pay for Mulanax to use his personal vehicle. That section likewise said he will be responsible for all normal repairs, service and liability insurance on the vehicle.
Mulanax’s base salary, the contract said, will be $95,000, and the contract also calls for a severance package.
That package states that if Mulanax is discharged from his duties, the city agrees to fully compensate “all rights, privileges, benefits and compensations as would normally be done, including wages, health and medical insurance and retirement benefits for a period of six months, starting the following calendar month from the date of being officially discharged.”
Tonight’s meeting is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. in the commission chambers in the Seward County Administration Building.
