Roofers were using a torch to install new roofing at a laundromat, and some of the fiber board being installed caught fire as a result.

That, according to Liberal Fire Chief Kelly Kirk, is what led to firefighters being called to the business at Second and Prospect Tuesday afternoon.

Kirk said the first truck arrived on scene at 1:36, and the fire was out about an hour later at 2:49.

Kirk said a small stack of fiber board had caught fire on the roof because of a torch, but he said it did not take much water to put out the fire. No injuries were reported in the fire.
