The owners of Mariscos Sinaloa are proud to announce the opening of their new location at 1115 N. Kansas Avenue, the former home of JAC’S Kitchen.

The ribbon-cutting on the new location took place Aug. 4.

“Mariscos Sinaloa is primarily a seafood restaurant, about 90 percent of our menu is seafood items. We started the business in October 2017, so this year will mark us being in business for five years, which we're really happy about,” owner Juan Cuevas said. “The place we started out in was very small, and the kitchen wasn't big enough for our needs, so we moved to our new location at 1115 N. Kansas Avenue, and we're so happy. The kitchen is much bigger and fits our needs so well, and we now have plenty of parking spaces for customers. The overall seating capacity is about the same as with our other spot, but we gained kitchen space and parking lot space, so we're really happy with our decision to move.”

Cuevas said with the growth the restaurant was experiencing, it only made sense to move to a new location.

“We were growing, and the kitchen at our other spot was very, very small, so we knew we needed to upgrade. The amount of parking spaces at our old location was also inadequate, we were actually kind of having to share with the Arby's, which they were ultimately okay with, so we appreciate that very much,” Cuevas said. “We gained so much by moving to our new location, and we couldn't be happier with that choice. We started moving in here not too long ago, the landlord was very good about letting me sign the contract early and having everything in place, and August was the first month we started paying rent. We closed the old location officially about three weeks ago, and we started moving everything to our new location shortly after all of that. We love the bar area, that's something we weren't able to have much of at our old spot, so we're really excited about that. The bigger kitchen is also amazing, we're so happy to have the extra space, and that will allow us to be more efficient in serving customers and everyone who comes in.”

Cuevas added he is excited to see community members continue to visit the restaurant.

“We're the only major seafood restaurant in the area for several miles, and the food is all good. We have so many specialties and things you have never tasted before, so we would love to see people in here eating it all,” Cuevas said. “Our menu is really good and full of delicious choices, and everything's homemade and from our own recipes. We bring in lobster from either Seattle or Maine, and we get them in pretty frequently. We put a lot of love and effort into our food, and you won't be able to find anything like us anywhere else. We have lunch specials and dinner specials, and there are also special things we do on the weekends, and everyone will come away with something they like.”

Cuevas said he was also very pleased with the ribbon-cutting and the amount of support seen then. He added he hopes to continue a good relationship with the people of Liberal.

“We loved seeing everyone out here for the ribbon-cutting, that made us feel really good,” Cuevas said. “We've had a great relationship with the Chamber of Commerce for a while now, ever since we started out, and they've been extremely helpful and supportive of us and what we do, and we can't thank them enough for that. We love Liberal, we love the small-town feel, and this is where we've raised our children, so this is going to be our home for a long time. I want to thank all of our customers and the Chamber of Commerce for all the support we've received, and I also have to give a shoutout to my staff and employees, we could NOT do what we do if they weren't here and doing an amazing job with everything.”
