A Liberal woman was injured in an accident Monday afternoon in Haskell County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported shortly before 2 p.m. Monday, a 2014 Lincoln MKZ and a 2012 Ford Fusion were northbound on U.S. Highway 83, when the Fusion slowed so a vehicle in front of them could turn eastbound onto Haskell County Road 180.

The driver of the MKZ, KHP said, failed to see the Ford slowing down and struck the Fusion in the rear. The Lincoln came to rest on the east shoulder of U.S. Highway 83 facing north. The Ford came to rest on the south shoulder of Road 180 facing east.

The driver of the MKZ, 25-year-old Nicholle R. Salinas-Perez of Liberal, was taken to Satanta District Hospital with a suspected minor injury.

The driver of the Fusion, Jesse Loepky, 19, of Satanta, suffered no apparent injury, according to KHP.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
