Two people were pronounced dead after a fatal aircraft accident Monday morning in Northwest Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported the accident took place shortly before 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Gage, Okla., airport located about one mile south of Gage in Ellis County.

The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Association. OHP did say the plane involved was a Cessna 170.

Both of the occupants, 54-year-old James Wade Bruce of Shattuck, Okla., and David Rondel Jr., 30, of Austin, Texas, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Department and EMS, Shattuck Fire Department, Gage Fire Department and the Office of the Medical Examiner are helping with the investigation as well.
