A Texas woman is dead following a three-vehicle accident Monday in Meade County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported the accident happened at about 6:15 p.m. Monday near Milepost 52.9 on U.S. Highway 54 in Meade County.

The agency said a 2007 Ford Edge was traveling westbound on Hwy. 54, while both a 2015 Freightliner and 2017 Volvo were eastbound on the highway.

KHP said the Edge went left of center and struck the Freightliner. After that, the Edge spun, and the Volvo then hit the Edge.

The Edge’s driver, 48-year-old Verna L. Mandrell of Lubbock, Texas, was killed in the accident. The Freightliner’s driver, Aman D. Singh, 41, of Turlock, Calif., and the Volvo’s driver, Jagpreet Singh, 28, of Ripon, Calif., sustained no apparent injuries.

KHP said all three drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
