On a cold and blustery Tuesday night at Memorial Field in Dodge City, “That” Liberal Band received its 13th consecutive Superior rating at the WAC Marching Festival.

The LHS Band received Superior ratings in marching and maneuvering, music performance and general effect. Excellent scores were earned the Drum Line and the Color Guard for an overall rating of Superior.

The Dodge City Band, directed Erica Fleeman also received a Superior rating with Great Bend, Hays and Garden City receiving Excellent ratings.

A very supportive crowd lived through the presentation of the “Grease” Show and made comments like: “I’m excited to see the Liberal Show – they are always outstanding, “ “and wasn’t it cool the way they worked the Grease characters into the marching show?” “What a dazzling performance,” said a woman sitting behind some of the Liberal chaparons.

Band directors Lance Burnett, Charla Lewis, Grant Mathews and Zeb Tiedeman were very pleased with the band’s first performance of the full show and look forward to competing at FHSU on Monday and again at KU on Oct. 29. Performance times are 3:30 and 2:15 respectively.

The USD 480 Band Staff also wishes to thank the Band Boosters for their help and the chaperon/equipment crew that has helped this season. A further thank you goes out to the USD 480 School District for the use of facilities, transportation and finances.
