Friday, Seward County firefighters extinguished a grass fire in southeastern parts of the county.

Fire Chief Andrew Barkley said in a press release, his department was dispatched around 6 p.m. Friday to the blaze north of Road 6 on Road R.

“Units arrived on scene to find approximately three acres of natural vegetation on fire,” he said. “The fire was contained and extinguished.”

Barkley added no injuries were reported, and the Seward County Sheriff’s office also responded.

“The fire department responded with two chief officers, nine firefighters, four attack engines, one engine and one water tender,” he said. “The cause of the fire is undetermined.”
