A New Mexico man is in stable condition following an accident Friday in western Texas County, Okla.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported the accident happened at about 1:15 p.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 56 about four miles west of Elkhart in Texas County.

The report said a 2015 Nissan Versa was westbound on Hwy. 56, while a 2005 Peterbilt was eastbound on the highway. OHP said for an unknown reason, the Versa crossed the center line and sideswiped the semi.

After striking the Peterbilt, the Nissa departed the roadway to the right, rolling one and a quarter times, coming to rest on the passenger side. Meanwhile, the semi departed the roadway to the left and come to a stop after the collision.
