Representative Shannon Francis (R-Liberal) was elected as Chairman of the House Rural Caucus.
The Rural Caucus is comprised of the more than 60 State Representatives with rural communities in their districts. The caucus serves to educate its

members and urban legislators about the effects of legislation on our rural businesses, citizens and communities. The Rural Caucus is dedicated to solving the many critical issues impacting rural lives and development. These issues include highway funding, broadband issues, school finance, rural healthcare, infrastructure, water, and many others.
“I am honored to be selected by my colleagues to serve in this position,” Francis said. “A strong Kansas requires our rural communities to flourish and thrive. I look forward to working with both my rural and urban colleagues to ensure a prosperous future for not just rural Kansans, but for all Kansans.”
Representative Francis has represented the 125th District, which includes the cities of Kismet and Liberal, in the Kansas House of Representative since January 2015. He currently serves as vice-chair of the House Transportation Committee, and is a member of the Taxation Committee and Water and Environment Committee.
