phillip blagravePhillip Daniel Blagrave, 53, died Sept. 14, 2021 in Anderson County, S.C. of cardiac arrest in his semi.

He was born April 19, 1968 to Francis Ardean "Dean" and Mary Jean "Jeanie" (Brungardt) Blagrave in Ness City. 

He married Kimberly "Kim" Dawn Martin June 1, 2001 at Arkalon Park in Liberal. She survives.

He graduated from Liberal High School in 1986. While in school he was a member of “That” Liberal Band. He later attended Seward County Community College, graduating with his associate’s degree in applied science criminal justice in 1990.

He spent the last 10 years of his life as an over the road truck driver, with the last seven of those years as a bulk hauler in the carbon black industry, where he delivered to many tire plants. 

His hobbies were flying quad copters, music and blowing things up, whether that be shooting fireworks or target practicing, drives around the lake and outdoor grilling.

Survivors also include son, Kolt of the home; father and mother-in-law, John and Susan Martin, Emporia; sister, Anita Thompson (Jody), Liberal; brother-in-law, Brad Martin (Belinda), Hamilton; nieces: Jessica Johnson (Shad) and Alicia Thompson, Liberal, Audri Kirk (Kale), Madison, Kassie Lazar (Garrett), El Dorado, and Allyson Martin, Andover; nephews: Bradley Rice (Ashley) Westmoreland, Dustin Rice, Missouri, and Christopher Rice, Hamilton; great-nieces: Bobbie Ann Paris (Lane), Kaylee Johnson, Reanna Powell, Brooklyn Rice, Arya Rice; great-nephew; Mason Rice; many other friends and family; and beloved dog, Lily and cats, Mommas and Izzy (also know as his little sweet pea).

He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Isadore and Anna Brungardt; paternal grandparents, Francis and Amy Blagrave; and great-nephew, Aiden Dean Hammock-Thompson.

• Cremation has taken place. 

There will be a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021 at the Hamilton Elementary School cafeteria in Hamilton.
