MEADE – Robert J. (Jim) Conway, 80, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022 at Locust Grove Villages in LaCrosse.

He was born April 29, 1941 to Phillip Donald and Dorothy M. (Norsworthy) Conway in Meade.  

He married Shannon Ruth Turney in 1972. She survives.

He graduated from Meade High School in 1959. He later attended Bethany College in Bethany, Okla.  

After his schooling, he returned to Meade and began his career as a cowboy, working at the Meade Feed Yard for 30 years. In addition to working as a cowboy, he worked for McPheter Pontiac-GMC for several years.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, 4-H, Glee Club, and received the Distinguished Service Award from the Meade Church of the Nazarene.  He enjoyed being with his family and in particular, his grandchildren, team roping with his brother Gene, detailing his vehicles, and his favorite horse, Shorty.

Survivors also include sons, Shane Bond and wife, Miranda, LaCrosse, and Derek Conway and wife, Crystal, Henderson, Nev.; sister, Nancy Frank, Oklahoma City; and seven grandchildren: Justin, Nathan, Austin, Brayden, Carson, Nevaeh, and Skyla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Conway; and sister, Louise Castleberry.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, at the Church of the Nazarene.  

Burial will follow at the Graceland Cemetery in Meade.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12. 2022 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade, with the family present from 5 to 7p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Church of the Nazarene in care of the funeral home.
