Verla D. Taylor, 92, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022 in Dodge City. 

She was born June 24, 1929 to Art and Iva (Young) Tillotson in Naponee, Neb.

She married LaWarren Nelson in 1947. They later divorced. 

She married Maynard “Doc” Taylor in 1966. He preceded her in death in 2003.

She worked a variety of jobs, from custom making draperies in her younger years to caregiving for the elderly when she was well into her 70’s and 80’s. 

Survivors include her children and their spouses/partners: Janet Blauvelt (Duane Devitt), Hastings, Neb., Joyce Bullock, Lincoln, Neb., Mark Taylor (Delana), Dodge City, Michael Taylor (Kathy), Benton, Ark., Matthew Taylor (Melissa), Hugoton, and Monty Taylor (Shelly), Blairsville, Ga.; sisters: Betty, New York, Virginia, California, Barbara, Colorado, and Beverly of Colorado; and many other family and friends. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Jim Nelson; grandson, Clayton Taylor; son-in-law, Terry Blauvelt; her grandparents; one great-great grandson; and several siblings.

• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022 at Rolla United Methodist Church in Rolla. 

Burial will follow at the Rolla Cemetery in Rolla.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2022 at Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton.
