Teresa Ann (Rubart) Grounds, 66, died Sunday, May 8, 2022 in Houston.

She was born Oct. 24, 1955 to Perry and Dorothy Rubart. 

She married Greg Grounds March 20, 1982. He survives.

She graduated from Ulysses High School and went on to pursue a degree in education at Abilene Christian University. While there, she was part of the Women’s Basketball Team and would later in life be inducted into their Hall of Fame. She also was part of the gymnastics team. 

She spent her life in service to others and strove “to love like Jesus loved.” 

She served her community in many ways, participated in disaster relief efforts in the U.S. (her favorite secular service) and took many trips to Ghana, teaching the gospel to many.

She enjoyed serving others through food and would often prepare a feast for widows, preachers, friends, family, Greg’s coworkers and anyone else who stopped by.

Survivors also include her parents; children: Jason and Sarah, Nic and Natalie, and Megan; grandchildren: Ben, Elizabeth, Addison, Isaac, and Ryder; sisters, Jackie and husband, Wendell Beall, and Debbie and husband, Kenny Sneyd; brother and sister in-law, Chris and Kelie Grounds; sister-in-law, Traci Williams and fiancé, Terry Lohmann; and many other family and friends from the U.S. and Ghana.

• Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the Hooker Church of Christ in Hooker, Okla., with Jordan Arnold presiding.
