marylin headrickMarylin A. Headrick, 83, died Sept. 19, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

She was born Sept. 11, 1939 to Everett Lee Smith and Dorothy (Keyser) Smith.

She graduated from Liberal High School. 

She married Ivan David Headrick March 15, 1958. He preceded her in death Feb. 11, 2021.

She was a volunteer for the Southwest Medical Center Auxiliary and helped with many funeral luncheons for the church. She also taught the 2-year-old Sunday School Class for many years. 

She always helped on the family farm preparing meals for the harvest workers and driving a grain truck. She also loved working in her garden and flowerbeds. 

She will always be remembered as an amazing cook and baker, winning many ribbons with her baked goods and flowers in the county fair.

Survivors include sons, David, Kelly, Liberal, Gary and wife, Jennifer, Sublette, and John and wife, Laura Headrick, Towanda; daughters, Sheri and husband, Max Byrn, Woodward, Okla., and Joan and husband, Layne Glunt, Ottawa, Ill.; brother, Paul Smith and wife, Linda, Ogden, Utah; brothers-in-law, Bill Hand and wife, Laura, and Ernie Milton; grandchildren: Amanda (Jordan) Chambers, Julia Byrn, Jacob, Hayden, and Regan Headrick, Kristen, Preston and Trinity Turner, Porche Pearson, Jessica Headrick, Colby, Landon and Avery Glunt, Zane and Brianna Headrick, Josiah (Theresa) Royse, and Josh Royse; and three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Everett Smith; and sisters: Kathy Milton, Mary Brown, and Paulette Hand .

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Liberal, with Rev. Brad Bennett presiding. 

Burial to follow at Restlawn Cemetery.

Friends may call from 12 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2022 at Hornung Family Funeral Home at 1212 W. 2nd Street in Liberal. The family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. to receive friends.
