PLAINS – Josephine E. Amerin, 94, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2022 at her home in Plains.
She was born Jan. 14, 1928 to John and Anna (Ertle) Gertner.
She graduated from Padroni High School in Padroni, Colo. in 1946.
She married Edward John Amerin Jan. 24, 1950. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, serving her church in many different areas, flowers, driving the grain truck, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include four sons: Larry Amerin and wife, Leigh Ann, Plains, Ray Amerin and wife, Jenny, Plains, Gerald Amerin, Plains, and Robert Amerin and wife, Caralee, Plains; four daughters: Mary Rhoads, Winter Park, Fla., JoAnn Wells and husband, Larry, Fowler, Dolores Amerin, Plains, and Margaret Rentenia and husband, Jesse, Clovis, N.M.; daughter-in-law, Mary Amerin, Plains; brothers, Lawrence Gertner and Clarence Gertner; three sisters: Sr. Leonette Gertner, Margaret Clapham, and Clara Marie; 30 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three sons: Paul Amerin, Edward Amerin Jr., and Leonard Amerin; five brothers: John Gertner Jr., David Gertner, Gabriel Gertner, Marcus Gertner, and Donald Gertner; and sisters, Anna Mary Bretz and Virginia Amerin.
• Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Plains.
Holy Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Plains.
Interment will follow in the Plains Cemetery in Plains.
