jerry whiteULYSSES – Jerry F. White, 73, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses. 

He was born June 21, 1949 to Burl and Mary (Tull) White.

He married Jeleta Henson Aug. 13, 2004. She survives.

He grew up in Ulysses and went to Grant County Rural High School. He then graduated from Liberal Vo-Tech, where he studied diesel technology. 

He served in the United State Army and after an honorable discharge, he returned to Ulysses and worked for Dowell. He also worked at Collectia, WT Contractors and Tarbet Tucking. 

He enjoyed gambling, riding motorcycles, attending car shows, driving his truck, and telling stories and jokes. 

Survivors also include son, Rob White, Ulysses; daughter, Jen Wieland and husband, Nathan, Grand Island, Neb.; stepdaughters: Melissa Constable, Ulysses, Melody Owens, Ft. Collins, Colo., and Tricia Jacob, Alabama; sister, Burla Stutzman and husband, Jerry, Ulysses; grandchildren: Toree Ogden, Taylor Wieland, Madison Wieland, Caroline White, and Tatum White; and great-grandchildren: Samantha, Elizabeth, Grace and McKenzie “Punky” McCauley.

He was preceded in death by his father; mother and stepfather, Mary and Bud Gile; brothers: Robert, Billy Glen, and Bob White; and sisters, Jean Faulks and Charlotte Roybal.

• Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses, with Pastor Andy McMillan presiding. 

Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, with military rites conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79.
