PRESTON REDGER

Preston LeRoy “Lee” Redger, 71, died Saturday, May 13, 2023.

He was born Feb. 23, 1952 to Kenneth and Thelma Redger. 

He married Marie Elizabeth Parish March 5, 1982. She survives.

He was a member of the United States Army and served five years, including eight months in Phu Loi, Vietnam.  After returning he served in the Military Police in Colorado Springs. 

After his discharge, he returned to Kansas and worked for an Irrigation company and then went to work in the oilfield for 13 years, 10 of which he worked for The Rosel Company. 

He then had an American Family Insurance Agency for five years and later found his calling in crop insurance for 26 years.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He enjoyed Living History, hunting with a long bow and black powder.  He also enjoyed working on his guns. 

In addition, he loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle and loved going on rides with his friends. 

Survivors also include daughters, Billie Jo Dumler and husband, Mike, and Christi Presgrove; son, Travis Redger; brother, James Redger and wife, Jane; sister, Patricia Miller and husband, Wendell; grandchildren, Trey Dumler and wife, Monica, and Tori Dumler; great-granddaughter, Ariana Dumler; nieces; Madison Love and spouse, Addison, and Hannah Redger; and nephews: Joseph Miller, John Miller and wife, Alaina, Josh Miller and wife, Kaisha, and Jacob Miller. 

He was preceded in death by His parents; and brother, Billy Ray Ingrum.

• Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel at 1212 W. 2nd Street in Liberal.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Liberal, with Reverend Bob Hutton presiding. 

Burial will follow at the Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal. 

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice in care of Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, KS 67901.
