BETTY GARINGER

KISMET – Betty A. Garinger, 80, died Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at the Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade.

She was born Jun 1, 1943 to Lindley Hill and Zoa Edith (Martin) Kirkendall. 

She married Terry Garinger March 6, 1965. He preceded her in death.

She graduated from Cleo Springs High School in Cleo Springs, Okla. in 1961.  She later attended Northwest Oklahoma State University in Alva, Okla., receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in 1970.  

She worked as a schoolteacher for 29 years.

She was a member of the Kismet United Methodist Church and the KNEA.  

She enjoyed crocheting, raising farm animals, show horses, exotic animals, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include children, John Garinger and wife, Jill, and Teresa Louderback and husband, Jeff; four grandchildren: Shelby Winkler and husband, David, Lindsay Garinger and Tucker Heaton, Whitney Blevins and husband, Dustin, and Colton Louderback; six grandchildren: Maci Winkler, Haisley Blevins, Kashlyn Blevins, Audrey Heaton, Stratton Winkler, and Adlee Heaton; sister, Carolyn Dietz and husband, Mickey; brothers, John Garinger, Jerry Garinger, Carl and wife, Carol Bottoms; and sister-in-law, Lydia Kirkdedall.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Robert, Charles, and David Kirkendall; and sisters, Virginia Phillips and Mary Spence.

• Funeral services took place Saturday, July 8, 2023, with Reverend Terry Mayhew presiding.  

Burial took place at the Kismet Cemetery in Kismet.

Memorials are suggested to the Lone Tree Retirement Center in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
