CANDACE MOTEN

Candace Kay Moten, 71, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2023 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.

She was born Oct. 11, 1951 to Gene and Yvonne (Knobbe) Schwindt.

She married Willis Ray Moten March 15, 1972. He preceded her in death June 16, 2020.

Survivors include her children: Jeffery Len Moten, Genarro Raphael (Melissa) Moten, Candra Kai (Ivica) Šimac, and Danya Rei Moten; grandchildren: Jeffon Moten, Jisaiah Moten, Luka Šimac, Marko Šimac; and siblings, Nicki Schwindt, Darcy Broadfoot, Kari Harrison, and Kim Schwindt.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

• Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. 

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2023 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
