BETTY PITTS

MEADE – Betty Mae Pitts, 95, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, at the Frankfort Community Care Home in Frankfort.

She was born Oct. 20, 1927 to Walter Ernest and Ora Isbell (Boyd) Fletcher.  

She married Claude Whitehead in June 1947.  

She married Robert M. Daugherty in January 1970. He preceded her in death. 

She married Forest J. Pitts in November 1997.  He preceded her in death in May 2023.

She graduated from Meade High School in 1945.  

She worked as a registered nurse at the Meade District Hospital for more than 50 years.

Survivors include daughters, Pamela (Whitehead) White, Waterville, and Patricia (Whitehead) Jackson, Payson, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Whitehead, Andover; her blended family: Robert M. Daugherty Jr., Maryann Godkin, Larry Pitts, Randy Pitts, Alan Pitts, and Shaun Buchanan; four grandchildren; 13 blended grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 20 blended great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Steve Whitehead; her parents; brother, Thomas Fletcher; and sister, Mary Irene Lemaster.

• A celebration of Betty’s life will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2023 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.  

A private family burial will take place at the Graceland Cemetery in Meade.

Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.  

Memorials are suggested to the PEO Continuing Education Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
