Joe Victor Davis, 67, died Aug. 7, 2023.   

He was born Sept. 5, 1955 to John and Rita (Anaya) Davis in Albuquerque, N.M. 

He graduated from Moriarty High School in Moriarty, N.M. in 1973.

He moved to Liberal in 1978, where he started his career with National Beef Packing Company and created lasting friendships. He started working at National Beef at the young age of 24. He was well respected as he worked his way up to Safety Director and dedicated 45 years of his life to the company.

He was a very special part of his community and was called Uncle Joe by many. 

During his time in Liberal, he made lifetime friendships and was always ready to lend a hand. He retired in 2022 and made sure to enjoy life to the fullest. He traveled to see friends, family, and even made time to stop in the occasional casino.

Survivors include brother, John Wayne Davis, Roswell, N.M.; sister, Monica Astorga and husband, Onofre “Opie,” Dodge City; nieces, Brianna Day and husband, Jamie, Hays, and Stefani Katz and husband, Tyler, Wichita; nephew, Jeromy Bynum and wife, Ashley, West Hattiesburg, Miss.; great-nieces: Addy and Macie Day and Quinn Bynum; great-nephew, SJ Katz; best friends, Mike Woods and Isaac Stevens; and many other family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Angie Davis-Bynum.

• A celebration of life will take place from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023 at Billy’s Ayr Lanes in Liberal. 

Memorials are suggested to the Liberal Animal Shelter and St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
