JASON SMITH

Jason “Bubba” Smith, 49, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born Dec. 17, 1973 to Anthony Smith and Denise (Rock) Smith. 

He graduated from Turpin High School and went on to play one year of football at Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Okla. before graduating from Northwest Oklahoma State University in Alva, Okla. 

He was a mechanic by heart – he just knew it no matter what it was. He owned Bubba’s Diesel after being a successful service manager.

He enjoyed his Harley, playing pool, collecting coins, watching the Raiders football, spending time with friends and family, and keeping his hands busy tinkering in the shop.

Survivors include his mother, Denise Boyd and husband, Ron, Turpin, Okla.; father, Anthony Smith and wife, Carole, Hydro, Okla.; his children, Addelea Mae Smith, Camdenton, Mo., and Jaidey Belle Smith, Camdenton, Mo.; and brother, Tim Smith, Turpin, Okla. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Tom and Cleta Rock, and Darrell and Judy Smith.

• Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Hornung Family Funeral Home in Liberal.

Burial will be at Pioneer Cemetery in Beaver, Okla. at a later date.
