LUPE OROZCO

JOHNSON – Lupe V. Orozco, 71, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo. 

She was born April 14, 1952 to Jose and Agnes (Gonzalez) Tafoya. 

She married Gonzalo Orozco March 6, 1974. He survives.

She graduated from Rocky Ford High School in Rocky Ford, Colo. 

She worked as a caregiver for Lewis and Vivian Shore for 20 years. She then worked as a paraprofessional at USD #452 Schools for 25 years. 

She loved her family and all the students that she worked with, was a wonderful cook, enjoyed a good game of cards and enjoyed traveling. 

Survivors also include son, Armando Orozco and Marisa Johnson, Hays; brothers: Ronnie Tafoya, Las Vegas, Rudy Tafoya, Westminster, Color., Louis Tafoya, Denver, and Patrick Tafoya, Westminster, Colo.; and sisters, Priscilla Pacheco, Pueblo, Colo., and Cecilia Tafoya, Rocky Ford, Color. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

• Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, with Reverend Eric Gyamfi presiding. 

Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson. 

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023 at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
