norma berensNorma Jean Berens, 88, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Center Nursing Home.  

She was born Dec. 5, 1934 to Frank and Helen (Wiegel) Bittle.

She married Arthur J. "Ace" Berens August 21, 1954. He preceded her in death Nov. 23, 2005.

She was a graduate of Gorham High School with the Class of 1952. 

She worked as a Bookkeeper for RC Williams Trucking, Carlile Water Well, Jimmie Rogers Trucking along with working with Ace at their business Orbit Tool and Supply. 

She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling & gambling with Ace. 

She was a member of the Desk & Derrick Club, Daughters of Isabella, and the First National Bank Prestige Club. 

She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Survivors include sons, Tom Berens and wife, Jeannie, Falcon, Colo., and Curtis Berens, Liberal; daughter, Renee Young and husband, Jim, Turpin, Okla.; seven grandchildren: Christopher Berens and wife, Terra, Castle Rock, Colo., Michael Berens and wife, Cheyenne, Pittsburgh, Zachary Berens and wife, Brittany, Ponca City, Okla., Dylan Berens and wife, Tia, Liberal, Dustin Berens, Hays, Matthew Young, Kaw City, Okla., and Micaela Young and fiancé, Laike Wilhelm, Ponca City, Okla.; six great grandchildren: Cooper Dawn, Peyton, Kouper Dale, Brooks, Wilder, and Axel; and many nephews and nieces.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Francis Bittle; and daughter-in-law, Mimi Berens.

• Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2023 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 1510 N. Calhoun Avenue in Liberal.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Liberal.  

Burial will follow the Funeral Mass at Restlawn Cemetery.  

Friends may call from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Monday Dec. 4, 2023 at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
