keith thomasKeith L. Thomas, 93, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2020 in Beaver, Okla.

He was born April 11, 1926 to Les and Verna Thomas in Azusa, Calif. 

He married Doris Parker Sept. 20, 1947 at the Parker family home in Elmwood, Okla. She survives.

He was a member of the Balko Baptist Church in Balko, Okla. for more than 50 years.

He graduated from Beaver High School in 1943. After graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was on his way to Japan from the Philippines as part of the invading forces when the atomic bomb was dropped in Japan and WWII was over. He then entered Japan as part of the occupational forces. 

He came home from the war in 1946 and began farming and ranching in the Balko Community until his retirement. 

He loved farming and ranching even through the drought years, low crop and cattle price years and the mechanical breakdown years. He had a special gift for repairing anything but especially farm equipment.

Survivors also include sons, Ed Thomas and wife, Cindy, Laverne, Okla., and Rusty Thomas and wife, Shelly, Beaver, Okla.; daughter, Sharon McKinney, Amarillo, Texas; sisters, Imogene Hatcher and Merlyn, Beaver, Okla., Lavora Parker, Bokchito, Okla., Joan Goodwin, Rockwall, Texas, Janis Vowell and Eddie, Campbell, Texas and Arline and Darrell Looper, Beaver, Okla.; grandchildren: Stefanie and Jon Decker, Amarillo, Texas, Trey Thomas, Balko, Okla., Chase Thomas, Tulsa, Okla., Chastyn Thomas, Beaver, Okla., and Hope McGuire and Rusty, Laverne, Okla.; great-grandchildren: Adam, Sam and Claire Decker, Connor Thomas, Miles and Grant McGuire and Ryder Thomas;  and several nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Preston Thomas; grandson, David Thomas; and son-in-law, Donny McKinney.

• Funeral services took place Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020 at the Balko Baptist Church in Balko, Okla.
