merlin jantzenMerlin Lee Jantzen, 91, died Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.

He was born April 24, 1928 to Dan L. and Ida (Deckert) Jantzen in Liberal.

He married Barbara Smith Aug. 8, 1948, in Kismet. She survives. 

He graduated from Kismet High School. 

He was a farmer, a carpenter, and a heavy equipment operator for Panhandle Eastern. 

He was a member of the Odd Fellows, a Boy Scout Leader for many years, a member of the city council of Kismet, a member of Kismet Baptist Church, and a coin collector. 

He loved fishing and bowling. 

Survivors also include son, Les Jantzen and wife, Jana, Liberal; daughter, Linda Poe and husband, Ken, Stillwater, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents; and six siblings.

• Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Restlawn Cemetery with Pastor Rex Petty presiding. 

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Hornung Family Funeral Home at 1212 W. 2nd Street in Liberal.
