william luncefordWilliam Ruben Lunceford, 75, died Sunday, March 22, 2020 in Liberal.

He was born April 23, 1944 to Ruben and Bess (Nethery) Lunceford in Phoenix.

He married Linda Rieck Nov. 15, 1969 in Liberal. She survives. 

He was a graduate of Tyrone High School in Tyrone, Okla. with the Class of 1962. 

After high school he enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1965, where he served as a draftsman and a carpenter during his tour in Germany. 

In 1967 he returned back home where he went to work with Nixon & Seaman Engineering, which turned into Earles' Engineering, from which he retired from in 2013. 

He and his wife owned and operated Lunceford's Shades Well Café in Tyrone, Okla. for 13 years. 

He was an accomplished drummer and played in many bands. 

He enjoyed camping, fishing, being in the mountains, supporting OU Football and loved being with his family.

Survivors also include son, Timothy Lunceford and wife, Melanie, Tyrone, Okla.; daughter, Molly Thomas and husband, Matt, Plains; grandsons, Eric Matthew Lunceford and Cade Michael Thomas; granddaughter, Cattia Lee Thomas; sisters, Mary Ellen Stoops and husband, Lloyd, Boulder, Colo., and Susan Demetri and husband, Allen, Woodbridge, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

• Private family service will take place.

Burial will take place in the Tyrone Cemetery in Tyrone, Okla.
