belva hickeyHUGOTON – Belva Hickey, 84, died Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton. 

She was born Aug. 13, 1935 to Joe and Ella (Maschmeier) Freeman in Liberal.

She married Darrell “Pete” Hickey Aug. 17, 1953, in White Settlement, Texas. He preceded her in death in 2018. 

While living in Liberal she worked at Black’s Drug Store, Gibson’s, and Seward County. 

She later worked at Stevens County Courthouse and was the County Treasurer for 25 years. 

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Liberal and Faith Lutheran Church in Hugoton.

Survivors include sons, Don Hickey and wife, Melanie, Amarillo, Texas, and Larry Hickey and wife, Pam, Hugoton; brother, Charles Freeman and wife, Nancy, Edmond, Okla.; sister, Roberta Kepley, Hugoton; grandchildren: Jarrod Moser, Amy (Moser) Blackwell, Luke Hickey, Lauren (Hickey) Potter, Laine (Hickey) Copeland, Susan Hickey, and Shay (Hickey) Miramontes; extended grandchildren, Lalane McClure, Jeremy Ellsaesser, Grace Eisenhour, and Andy Moser; and many great-grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda Lea (Hickey) Moser; and brother, Nemo Freeman.

• Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2020 at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton, with Reverend Andrew Wehling presiding. 

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.
