marguerite irbyMarguerite Elaine Irby, 92, died Thursday, June 25, 2020, in Liberal.   

She was born June 16, 1928 to Melvin and Barbara (Rudman) Kenyon in Bogue. 

She graduated from Bogue High School in 1945. 

She met Robert Ara Irby, and soon the two were married. They repeated their vows before a Justice of the Peace at Hill City, July 18, 1945. He preceded her in death in January 2001.

While in Houston, Texas and Bogue, She provided a babysitting service. 

While living in Liberal, she worked in high school cafeteria. 

Soon after returning to Bogue, she worked 20 years at the Dawson Place Nursing Home in Hill City. 

Music of any kind was an important part of her life and she sang alto, with her favorite song being “Victory In Jesus.” 

Playing cards with family and friends was great entertainment, her specialty being pinochle. Watching KU basketball was a special joy as well.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the United Methodist Church where she always took an active part in UMW and Service Club.

Survivors include three sons: Layton, Wichita, Richard (Debbie), Valley Center, and Bret (Elizabeth), Liberal; daughters: Judith Day, Franklin, Tenn., and Pamela (Gary) Bird, Patoka, Ill.; 12 granchildren: Mitchell Irby (Andrea), Lawrence, Rebecca Irby, Liberal, Jennifer (Zac) Masters, Franklin, Tenn., Jana (Sam) Inman, Lewisburg, Tenn., Brian (Julie) Bird, Makanda, Ill., Shelli (Rick) Hubler, Salem, Ill., Matthew Irby, Emporia, Tamara (David) LeMonnier, Andover, Douglas (Christin) Irby, Bel Aire,  and Bobby Irby, Johnny Irby and Donny Irby, all of Louisiana; 18 great-grandchildren: Jeremiah, Connor, Dylan, Paige, Jared, Marissa, Morgan, Joshua, Jonathan, Grady, Landon, Skyler, Ethan, Johnny Jr., Dylan, Jarryn, Ryan and Gavin; and many other friends and relatives.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Jean Venich.

• Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the Bogue Wildhorse Cemetery in Bogue. 

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Stinemetz Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 6 pm to 7 pm. 

Memorials are suggested to Bogue United Methodist Church in care of Stinemetz Funeral Home, 522 N. Pomeroy, Hill City, KS.
