Betty J. Heinson, 90, died Sunday, July 26, 2020 at the Meade District Hospital in Meade.

She was born Feb. 19, 1930 to Tom and Eva B. Gray in Meade County.

She married Lester J Meggenberg in 1950 and the divorced in 1961. They had two children, Bill and Sue Ann, both of whom passed away in 2016. 

She married Tommy Heinson June 18, 1965. He preceded her in death in death in 1985.

She graduated from Meade High School in 1948 and took employment as a telephone operator. 

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Meade. Her faith was very important to her and she was always proud of the role her son took in church leadership.

She also worked at the Ideal Food Store in the meat department in Meade. 

She had a special love for animals, especially dogs. Her most recent canine favorite is Ziggy and she looked forward to daily lap time with him. Betty was an avid fan of “The Andy Griffith Show” and any movie with animals in it.

She also loved music and singing along to the oldies and gospel music.

Survivors include five grandchildren: Billy (Natasha) Meggenberg, Loveland, Colo., Angie (Charlie) Niemeyer, Edmond, Okla., Joe (Kristine) Meggenberg, Bixby, Okla., Tia (Grant) Cheeves, Oologah, Okla. and Dane (Brandy) Bond, Owasso, Okla.; and six great-grandchildren: Ava, Grayson, Beau, Hudson, Megan and Scotti.

• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Church in Meade with Reverend Kent Peck presiding.  

Burial will follow at the Graceland Cemetery in Meade. 

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.  

Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church or the Betty Heinson Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
