Alice Bernice Hacker, 89, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020 at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

She was born Feb. 26, 1931 to Lawrence and Minnie Reinwald Sylvester in Hooker, Okla.

She attended rural schools and in the fifth grade began school in Hooker. She graduated from Hooker High School and then attended Amarillo Secretarial school receiving her certification.

She married Bill Hacker June 1, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hooker, Okla. He preceded her in death Sept. 10, 1998.

In 1961 she began Hacker Studio doing what she loved, photography. In 1966 they moved into Tyrone, Oklahoma and in 1972 moved her studio to downtown Hooker. In 1982 they moved to Hooker where she continued her photography and Bill continued to farm.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hooker, Okla., the LWML, and she enjoyed the Art Association along with Hazel Davis.

Survivors include sons, Mike and wife, Vivian Hacker, Lathrop, Mo., and Ronald Gene Hacker, Vinita, Okla.; daughter, Connie and husband, Billy Carson, Enid, Okla.; sister, Evelyn O’Connell, Amarillo, Texas; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Colleen Penner; and sister, Dorothy Catalanello.
