MEADE – William N. Rogers, 76, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

He was born Sept. 24, 1943 to Samuel N. and Marion K. (Drapczak) Rogers in Ravenna, Ohio.

He married Beverly Merkle Dec. 23, 1967 in Manhattan. She survives.

He attended school in Manhattan, Kansas, graduating from Lucky High School in 1961. He later attended Kansas State University.  

He was a rancher and a journeyman carpenter.

He was a member of the Carpenters Union. 

He served on the Meade County Extension Council and volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America and in several capacities with the local 4-H clubs.  

He enjoyed woodworking, reading and reciting poetry, portraying Santa Claus during the holiday, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors also include daughter, Katherine (Kit) Rogers, Wichita; sons, Duke Rogers, Wichita, and Chas Rogers, Wichita; three brothers: Carl Rogers, Samuel Rogers, and Mark Rogers; sisters, Cindy Ella Killian and Alice Feaney; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tonya Faye Rogers; and five brothers: Lawrence Rogers, Nicholas Rogers, George Rogers, Robert Rogers, and Ted Rogers.

• Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020 at Graceland Cemetery in Meade.  

Friends may call from 12 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade. The family will be present. 

The family would welcome memorials to the Meade County Fair or the Meade Food Bank in care of the funeral home.
