jw jackson jrJ.W. “June” Jackson Jr, 50, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2020 at Mosaic Medical Center in St. Joseph, Mo. 

He was born July 25, 1970, to J.W. Jackson Sr. and Dorothy Ann Jackson in Liberal.

He later moved to Omaha, Neb., where he met and married Sheila Sentell-Jackson. She preceded him in death. 

He later met his fiancée and soulmate, Rebecca Johansen.

He gave his life to God at an early age and was a member of New Testament Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and played the drums. 

He worked in security at SAC & Fox Casino in Powhattan. 

He loved fishing, enjoyed music, camping at the lake, and grilling with family and friends. 

He was a prankster and always loved to joke and laugh.

He was a devoted foster parent to Jacob Weinmann and Rena Johansen, and he was also a role model for Rebecca’s three adult children: Sarah, Michael, and Andrew. He was a devoted dad, brother, and uncle who helped raise his niece Courtney Flowers and nephews Xe'Tarius and Xavion Jackson-Carter. He is survived by his stepdaughter Dandria Sentell; three granddaughters: Tania Avlakeotes, Nyla and Z’Rijah Ramos of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters: Sonja Jackson-Tatum, Newport News, Va., Angel Jackson, Hampton, Va., and Betty J. Hale, Spartanburg, S.C.; brother, Frank Garcia-Jackson, Tyler, Texas; 10 nieces; six nephews; two great-nieces; one great-nephew; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerome and Thaddeus Smith; and sisters, Abigail Smith and Candy Ann Jackson.

o Graveside services will be Friday, Sept. 18, 2020 at the Liberal Cemetery at 1900 West 15th Street in Liberal.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020 at Hornung Family Funeral Home at 1212 West 2nd Street in Liberal.
