barbara kendrickJOHNSON – Barbara Kendrick, 84, died Monday, Sept. 14, 2020 at her daughter Lyn’s home in Parker, Colo. 

She was born April 30, 1936 to Harry and Doris (McKelvey) Houf in Colorado Springs.

After completing High School, she attended Colorado University from 1955 to 1957. 

She married Ronald Kay Kendrick June 23, 1957 in Colorado Springs. He preceded her in death Feb. 4, 2018.

During her time in Johnson, she worked as an EMT and also instructed EMT courses for Stanton County. She later went back to school and obtained her degree in nursing in 1992, she then practiced as a Registered Nurse for Stanton County Hospital. 

She loved to knit, sew, crochet, and make crafts for her family. 

Survivors include three sons: Mark and wife, Amie Kendrick, Colby, Gary and wife, Brenda Kendrick, Johnson, and Bret and wife, Robyn Kendrick, Johnson; daughters, Julie Brincks, Johnson, and Lyn Finnegan and husband, Greg, Parker, Colo.; sisters, Dodie and husband, Frank DeBell, Security, Colo., and Judy Kellogg, Sterling, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harry Houf III; and brother-in-law, Willis Kellogg.

• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020 at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson with Reverend Kurt Rovenstine presiding. The service may also be viewed on Garnand Funeral Home’s Facebook page via Facebook Live. 

The family would like to invite the public to the cemetery, following the funeral service, at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson. 

Public visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2020 at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson. 

Memorials are suggested to Stanton County EMS or Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 715, Johnson, KS  67855.
