MEADE – John F. Loewen, 94, died Thursdat, Sept. 24, 2020 at the Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade.

He was born Feb. 8, 1926 to Jacob E. and Lena F. (Friesen) Loewen in Meade. 

He married Margaret Reimer in Meade.  She preceded him in death Aug. 28, 1957.  

He married Elizabeth RC Classen June 6, 1958 in Meade.  She preceded him in death March 17, 1989.  

He married Ruth D. Regier May 26, 1990 in Meade.  She preceded him in death Dec. 6, 2018.

He attended Sunrise Elementary School in Meade County.  After his schooling, he began his career in farming. In addition to farming, he worked as a truck driver for Becker Transport for many years.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, and served in many roles, including Sunday school teacher, Superintendent, on the church board of directors, as a Deacon, and on the church council.  

He enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include three daughters: Rosina Fast and husband, Cliff, York, Neb., Eileen Collins and husband, JR, Dodge City, and Stella Brown and husband, Joe, Tallahassee, Fla.; stepson, Jim Isaac and wife, Carol, Omaha, Neb.; three stepdaughters: Carla Stucky and husband, Lynn, Pretty Prairie, Valerie Badgett and husband, Ross, Palestine, Texas, and Janice Camera and husband, Tony, Amherst, Ohio; daughters-in-law, Jeanette Loewen, Dodge City, and Cindy Heady, Kansas City; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sons, Dwight Loewen and Gordon Loewen; brother, Henry F. (Lena) Loewen; and sisters, Elizabeth (Will) Classen and Bertha (George) Classen.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020 at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Meade.  

Burial will follow at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery in Meade.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2020 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.  

Memorials are suggested to the Emmanuel Mennonite Church or the Lone Tree Retirement Center in care of the funeral home.
