michael rayMichael Lynn Ray, 55, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal. 

He was born May 2, 1965 to J.D. and Lovesta (Parker) Ray in Liberal. 

He graduated with a GED from Seward County Community College and attended Seward County Community College Vocational Technical School HVAC program. 

He worked at Purina as a mixer, and at National Beef in refrigeration. 

He was proud of his son, Austin, and spent as much time with him as he could. 

Survivors include his mother; ex-wife, April Coker, Norman, Okla.; son, Austin Wade Ray, Liberal; brothers, Jimmy Ray and wife, Laurie, Wellston, Okla., and Randy Ray, Mustang, Okla.; sister, Sharan Ray, Liberal; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 at Hornung Family Funeral Home at 1212 W. 2nd St. Liberal, KS, 67901. 

Burial will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 at the Fairview Cemetery in Elk City, Okla., with Pastor Wayne Ray presiding. 

Visitation will be Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Family will be present to greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. While Lovesta and the family deeply appreciates all the outpouring of support from her family, friends, and community, we will kindly request that all visitors to please wear a mask and please do not hug or shake hands with the family during these difficult times. The funeral home will request all visitors maintain social distancing and will be following CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19. A casket veil will be in use for this visitation.
