duane lambertDuane Deloss Lambert, 88, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2020 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.

He was born Feb. 23, 1932 to Leroy Lambert and Coral (Hughes) Lambert in Liberal.

He married Thelma Jean Scott Nov. 24, 1952 in Clayton, N.M. She survives.

He graduated from Kismet High School with the Class of 1950.

After graduation he worked as an auto mechanic for Gray’s Auto Shop in Liberal and farmed for his dad. When his dad could no longer farm, he took over all the farming.

He served as a board member for the Five State Fair from 1988 to 1992.

He loved fast cars, and he and his son built their own little cars for races in Kismet.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge and loved to go dancing there. His favorite dance was the Waltz.

He retired from farming in 1990, and later started D&L Dirt Contractors, doing work for farmers and oil companies until 2010.

He was instrumental in developing the Liberal Kansas Lambert Complex Soccer Field.

Survivors also Include son, Leland Lambert and wife, Natalie, Kismet; daughter, Debbie Blagrave and husband, Bill, Wichita; sister, Barbara Hanson, Liberal; eight grandchildren: Justin, Mason, Vanessa, Christopher, and Jessica Lambert; Brian and Travis Adams, and Derek Blagrave; eight-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother.

• Graveside committal services will be at 3 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Face masks are required to be worn with social distancing being observed by all who attend.
