marguerite lightMarguerite Aileen Light, 97, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021 in Villa Park, Calif. 

She was born Oct. 26, 1923 to George and Hazel King in Fairbury, Neb.

She married James Light. He preceded her in death.

She graduated from high school in 1941 from Phillipsburg. She later went on to earn a college degree from Asbury University in Kentucky and became a teacher.

She was a talented painter. She also loved to play the organ and make her own preserves. 

Survivors include grandchildren: Suzy McCasey and husband, Tim, Toni Baird, Jim Carter and wife, Shawna, Robert Hays and wife, Jennifer, and Kathy Kuhl and husband Bill; sons-in-law, Michael Hays and Larry O’Handley; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Diana Hays and Nancy O’Handley; son-in-law, Tom Carter; brothers, Dean King and Wayne King; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn King and Pat King.

• Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2021 at Hornung Family Funeral Home at 1212 W. 2nd Street in Liberal, with graveside service to follow at the Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal. 

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
