dale lumleyULYSSES – Father Dale A. Lumley, 73, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021 at his home in Ulysses. 

He was born March 25, 1947 to Thomas R. and Julia E. (Raynor) Lumley in New York City. 

He married Mariam Mogavro-Roland in Alexandria, Va. She survives. 

He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict for four years aboard the USS Forrestal CV-59. 

He was an avid sailor and taught sailing while in Virginia. 

While living in Washington D.C. he served the community cooking at a Catholic facility for the indigent. 

He was ordained into the Episcopal Church and became a priest in Newfoundland, Canada, on May 1, 1992, and Aug. 5, 1991, as a Deacon.  He served in the Episcopal Diocese in Brooklyn, N.Y., Africa, Arizona, Fogo Island, Newfoundland and Concordia. 

He served as the Priest at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ulysses for many years. 

He enjoyed going to the Grant County Senior Center in Ulysses and visiting with everyone. 

Survivors also include siblings, William K. Lumley and Judith A. Lacy. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Thomas D. Lumley.

• Memorial services will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ulysses with Reverend Dr. Carolyn Ballinger presiding. The service will also be streamed on Garnand Funeral Home’s Facebook page.
